gap is attracting audience, DSP vs SST

gap is attracting audience

If you look at the trend in Tollywood market now, any big film that releases after a considerable gap is attracting audience to the theaters. There was a huge gap before Attarintiki Daredi and filmgoers were craving for entertainment during that time. When AD released they have thronged to the theaters in big numbers and it got earth shattering openings.

After that we have seen quite a number of films to hit the marquee, but none could do at least half of what Attarintiki Daredi did. Yevadu will be the next big release in Telugu, which means there will be more than a month gap before that. Filmgoers generally prefer to watch big movies and therefore Yevadu will have the benefit of attracting the entertainment seekers.

If Yevadu has decent content then it has high chances to do good business. Although December 19th is not a good date for a big release, taking Christmas and New Year weekends into consideration, it may not be as bad as it appears. All Yevadu needs is good content and enough excitement in it to get positive feedback on the opening day. Above mentioned factors will make it a big range success.

DSP vs SST

When there are four to five heroes competing for the top spot and there are at least three to four heroines in race for the numero uno place, we have only two music directors competing for the top chair. The competition is currently going on between two young music directors Devi Sri Prasad and SS Thaman. With all the seniors moving aside and others failing to impress big stars, only DSP and SST are sharing biggies between them.

Although DSP has been a busy music director for more than a decade now, Thaman dominated in 2011 with Dookudu. Earlier he scored big points with Brindavanam and after Dookudu there is no looking back for him. But Devi Sri Prasad, who gives quality music and also knows the mass pulse, has walked away with glories in 2012. He has thrown a big challenge to Thaman with Gabbar Singh followed by Julayi.

Thaman is yet to give an answer to DSP's challenge. And once again Devi bettered himself this year with two blockbusters to his name. Attarintiki Daredi and Mirchi audios and movies were hugely successful and Thaman didn't score any blockbuster this year. He had hits like Naayak and Badshah, but those audios were nowhere near AD and Mirchi. Can Thaman topple DSP at least in 2014? Looks almost impossible as DSP has some excellent projects to his credit. Mahesh Babu's 1 and Gabbar Singh 2 are the most anticipated movies of 2014. However, Thaman could still fight with Aagadu, Rabhasa/Joru, Race Gurram etc.
