Veteran film star Mohan Babu’s friendship with Super Star Rajinikanth dates back to several decades. Both the senior actors acted in numerous films together in the early days of their careers.

Today, Mohan Babu flew down to Chennai and met his close pal after a long time. The firebrand actor took to his Twitter profile just a while ago and tweeted, “Had a good time meeting my best friend. He looks like a King! In this kaliyuga,he would be Duryodhana and I, Karna!”

The MB40, the event to celebrate Mohan Babu's 40 years career in film industry, to be held on September 17th in Vizag has been the talk of the Tollywood town. There is much anticipation about the event and a positive vibe in the South Indian film industry with all top stars looking ahead to be a part of the celebrations. 

Mohan Babu, being a respected name in the South Indian film industry, will have the company of the likes of Chiranjeevi, Nagarjuna, Venkatesh, Balakrishna along with many other veteran Tollywood stars on this special day. The event will also see the attendance of the new generation stars from the film industry.

Planned at a massive scale, the event is speculated to be huge in terms of the glamour quotient. Sources have revealed that the event can be considered to be on par, or rather even bigger than the Vajrotsavam that was held a few years ago and was a huge success.

Mohan Babu completed 40 years in the Telugu Film Industry in 22nd November 2015. With over 560 films to his credit, the actor has made a unique place for himself in the history of Telugu cinema. His contribution to the film industry was also recently commemorated at the 63rd Filmfare Awards, with Lifetime Achievement Award. 

Vishnu Luckunnodu!

Manchu Vishnu, who got a reprieve with the success of his last release 'Aadorakam Eedorakam', has taken his sweet time to finalize his next project. Now, he has okayed not just one but two new projects.

Director Raj Kiran, who made an impressive debut with Anjali starrer horror comedy 'Geethanjali', has reportedly narrated a script to Vishnu and impressed him. The film has been titled 'Luckunnodu'. The cast and crew are currently being finalized at the moment.

Vishnu has also signed another film which will also star his father Mohan Babu in a key role. The project has been titled 'Senapathi', which is one of the rumored titles of Pawan Kalyan's new film in the direction of Dolly. 'Senapathi' is said to be an action entertainer. Shooting of this will start soon. More details about cast and crew will be announced soon.

Vishnu will produce both these films. 

Mohan Babu: one hit feels like a CM

Heaping a rain of satires on young heroes, senior actor-producer Mohan Babu breathed fire the other day. Sharing his thoughts at an audio function in Chennai, he spoke in a linguistic mixture of Telugu, Tamil and English to vent fumes at younger generation that is apathetic to care for others.

'Today's younger generation of heroes are not in a mood to listen to us, the seniors. They think they are the bosses in their own way. Even a hero whose first film is a hit feels like becoming Chief Minister of a state. For that reason I'm not giving any advises to young heroes nowadays', said Mohan Babu, in a serious tone. He elaborates further, 'Whenever a heroine used to meet after years post a film's shooting, we used to greet them and inquire about their family and wellbeing. But these days such friendliness is missing'.

There is truth in what Mohan Babu has said, says few other senior actors, who agree completely that younger generation feels like lords but they are miles behind from the likes of NTR, ANR and Chiru, whose discipline and caring gestures are second to nothing. Are our younger generation listening? 

Supreme reprimands Mohan Babu AND Brahmanandam

This is a classic example of what super success can do and when talking of some people mere success can test their sanity to the maximum. We are talking of Tollywood’s dialogue King Mohan Babu who no doubt is the most sought after and successful stars in the industry but he seems to have lost it completely. The actor was conferred upon the Padma Shri title but he did not seem to have any respect or regard for such an honour and went ahead pre-fixing Padma Shri before his name like nobody’s business; he etched it on his vehicle registration plate, name plate, in his movie credits, etc., to name but few.

Obviously, such an act will not be ignored and Mohan Babu was issued an order by Apex Court to stop misusing the Padma award. Mohan Babu had challenged the AP High Courts’ order of returning the award and approached Supreme Court. But now even the SC has issued a stern order that the actor should not use the pre-fix Padma Shri anywhere. In fact, along with Mohan Babu, actor Brahmanandam too was reprimanded by Supreme for abuse of the title.

This certainly is a lesson for the rest of the stars in the industry to stay grounded!

Story

Rowdy was being speculated to be the shadow of Bollywood flick Sarkar, at least the trailer reminds us of the Amitabh Bachchan flick. However, we would like to inform that the basic story is pretty similar to Sarkar if not a remake per se. And we all know Ram Gopal Varma’s fascination for the classic story Godfather. In fact RGV’s Sarkar was totally inspired by Mario Puzo’s Godfather. Well, Rowdy is a story of a faction family that is set at the backdrop of Rayalseema and Mohan Babu is the godfather of the region who dares the law of the land for causes he believes in. Looks like RGV has still not got over the original story, he seriously is in a hangover!

Plot

Anna (Mohan Babu) is the powerful figure in the Rayalseema region rather the rural don, if you could say that. Anna takes on the law to defend in what he believes is righteous. The main story revolves around the Nandavaram project, of which Anna is dead against because he thinks it is against the welfare of the local people. There are a group of people who want to launch this project for their selfish interests and plan to weed out Anna from their way. Whether Anna succeeds in stalling the project or not forms the remaining part of the story.

Performances

Mohan Babu, as Anna is simply perfect and he has delivered a brilliant performance rather his body language, dialogues (of course) and mannerisms deserve a big round of applause. Ram Gopal Varma has got the best out of the veteran actor.

Manchu Vishnu plays the role of Krishna (Mohan Babu’s son on-screen as well) and he has given a good performance that could surprise many and especially his critics. With his performance in Rowdy, Vishnu has elevated to a whole new level as an actor.

Jayasuda is in her usual best and excels in emotional and romantic scenes. On the other hand Shanvi has a done a decent job and looks pleasing. Shanvi is likely to get a couple of offers after this release.

Technicalities

Music by Sai Karthik is good, and especially the background score blends too good with the film’s intriguing scenes. However, Satish Muthyala’s cinematography is nothing really exemplary or unique as we expected. And editing deserves a mention as being too sharp; it could have certainly been much better.

Analysis

There is nothing new or fresh about the story of Rowdy; in many ways it is repetitive rather reminds us of Godfather and of course his earlier venture Sarkar. The stellar performances by the lead actors give Rowdy that extra edge. Also, RGV’s excellent narration set apart the film.

RGV has had a bad phase in the recent past and although his Rowdy is a good film, we cannot conclude that it “he is back”, as yet. However, RGV stills has a strong hold on this genre of films, may be a couple more of films with good content can put the director back on his winning track.

Verdict

Rowdy is for audience who are over and out with massy masala flicks. After watchingRowdy we will realize why the veteran actors are indeed the evergreen super stars. Its nothing different than RGV’s movies and cannot be written off too. It can be watchedfor some change and performances of Mohan Bbu and also its BGM!

Mohan Babu had recently given a statement that he is all set to make a sensationalstatement very soon, which strongly indicated the possibility of the actor joining active politics. Immediately after this the rumour mills began their tedious work and spread the news that Mohan Babu is most likely planning to join BJP.

However, the actor squashed all the rumours and stated, “Hearing some absurd newscoming in TV channels that I am getting ready to take a plunge into Politics. As of now it’s humbug! Unlike others I don’t change my colours.”

Whom is Mohan Babu indicating when he said “unlike others”; does it mean Nagarjuna and Pawan? Mohan Babu could possibly have meant Pawan and Nagarjuna, as the two actors held separate meetings with Gujarat CM Narendra Modi.

But it is pretty ironical for Mohan Babu to finger upon others of changing colours when he himself has changed parties previously; Mohan Babu had joined hands with TDP in 1982 and later on he shifted his loyalty towards Y S Rajasekhar Reddy.

JAC to halt Rowdy movie release

Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming flick Rowdy, featuring Mohan Babu seems to be under fire; the Joint Action Committed from Northern Andhra has declared to halt the release of the film.

The JAC has alleged that Rowdy’s content will prove to be a bad influence on society and thus they are planning to stop the release of the film.

One of the members of JAC stated, “Crime rate laced with factionist attitude and criminal intent is going up in society only due to influence of movies, especially made by director Ram Gopal Varma. He showed Mohan Babu as a factionist and the flick might trigger unwanted feuds in state at the time of elections.”

The JAC has even threatened the makers that if the Censor Board fails to take action against the film then they will protest in front of the theatres and halt the screening of the film.

People in the state currently seem to be inflicted by some “protest fever”; there is a protest for almost anything and everything!

Jayasudha: The song is soothing and racy

Ever since the news of veteran actor Mohan Babu's duet with Jayasudha in upcoming Rowdy has broken out, there is huge hype around the song. There were rumours that the song was remix of Rangeela hit number- Yayi Re Yayi Re. 

Contrary to it, the number was 'Oh Bullemma...Jara Kanchi Pathu Cheera Katti Thayarundamma'. It was unveiled by none other than Jayasudha during the film's audio launch held at Sree Vidyaniketan institutions in Tirupati Today. The song is soothing and racy. The stills of the song instantly caught the attention of the film. It's visible that the song is going to be one of the highlights of the film. Jayasudha said that she shook her legs after nearly 20 years. She added, "Mohan Babu and I share great bond. We are true friends. We really care for each other."

Starring Vishnu Mohan Babu, Jayasudha, Manchu and Shanvi in pivotal roles, the film has music by Sai Karthik. Kasarla Shyam penned the lyrics. Ram Gopal Varma has directed this action film. 

Is their any hidden agenda behind this 'RESPECT' dialogue?

Mohan Babu is triggering sensation of sorts with his latest dialogues, and today he shocked again with the lines, 'I want respect, otherwise I'll get hurt'. Though this isn't a dialogue in his real life, his reel life projections are also stunning both people and politicians at this time.

In a way, it looks like Mohan Babu has come up with the story of sensational and powerful region of Rayalaseema region in his upcoming movie 'Rowdy'. Directed by Ram Gopal Varma, the film revolves around a factionist of Rayalaseema region and his powerful son. In the recently released song 'Adhira.. seema lekka', Mohan Babu is seen uttering 'Naaku respect ivvakapothey nenu hurt avuta'. This is something similar to what many prominent and stand-alone politicians of have said, the self respect thing, say cine observers. On a whole this particular dialogue must be bringing Mohan Babu much  closer to people that too before the elections. So, one wonders if there is any hidden agenda behind this 'RESPECT' dialogue.

'Rowdy' audio launched on Thursday and the film will be hitting screens on April 4th in a maximum number of theatres in Tollywood. For now, all are eagerly waiting for the Censor certification of the flick, as everyone knows the fiasco between Manchu family, RGV and Censor Office Dhanalakshmi.

Ever since director Ram Gopal Varma is all praise for Pawan Kalyan on Twitter platform there has been mixed response from all quarters including Pawan's camp. Nobody exactly knows what Varma is hinting about as Star director is an enigma. There is no clue whether Varma is heaping praises on Pawan or taking a dig at him sarcastically. While Pawan's fans took his tweets in positive stride, anti-fans are expecting this whole episode to turn out as 'joke' as Varma is known for 'fooling' people with his 'sarcastic' remarks.

Adding fuel to these speculations, veteran actor Mohan Babu has stepped into this "Tweet" saga. "Many things @RGVzoomin (Ram Gopal Varma) says on his twitter are just as a joke," Mohan Babu posted on his micro-blogging page. This is conspicuous that Mohan Babu is talking about Varma's tweets on Pawan Kalyan and his political ambitions. 

With none other than Mohan Babu, who is close to RGV, coming out in open and clarifying that Varma's tweets as jokes, now indications are clear that Ramu is pulling down Pawan Kalyan. Competition between good family friends?

Most of the movie releases which were earlier scheduled for March and April have been deferring their releases to another date, courtesy election schedule announcement. That apart there is a huge threat in the form of Legend from Balayya! But hear hear, Collection King Mohan Babu is open to accept the Legend challenge with his upcoming Rowdy.

The Manchu star is planning to release Rowdy on the same day, March 28th. While the two stars, Balayya Babu and Mohan Babu otherwise share good friendship and the two shared screen space as well and the two families have been good friends since long.

However this is just a professional challenge that the Rowdy is willing to accept from Legend. Rowdy is Ram Gopal Varma’s directorial starring Mohan Babu, Jayasudha, Vishnu and Shanvi and is made in Rayalseema backdrop. Rowdy makers have locked the date for release long back we hear.

With lot of hype and expectations on Legend, it remains to be seen how Rowdy can stand any chance to face the threat. There is no wonder even Rowdy movie is riding high on expectations since its RGV’s movie after a long time.

A new version of factions films is what maverick director Ram Gopal verma is going to show us all. The recent trailer ‘Rowdy’ speaks alot about what the team is going to offer. A new dimension of faction films where there used to be loud screams, loud dialogues, every thing loud..

But here Ramu is made this film with less dialogues and much intensity in the looks just like Rakta Charitra.  His technical brilliance and extracting juice out of the actors in known to all. And if Mohan babu gives himself to this director we can imagine the performances in this film.

For Rowdy trailer they have given a perfect 10/10 score.

Rowdy trailer special show?

Ok, the Rowdy trailer was unveiled as a special gift to the students of Sri Vidyaniketan even before it was officially unveiled.

Mohanbabu offered trailer treat to Sri Vidyaniketan students and we hear that the students were floored by RGV’s creativity. Looks like the boss has found his midas touch again. RGV’s amazing camera work and realistic taking is being raved by the students and they have given the trailer a perfect 10/10 score.

With the posters and first look already receiving well this only means good to the makers and they wish not just the trailer (which will be officially launched in a couple of days) but also the movie gets a thumbs up from movie lovers.

RGV is at the helm of the movie and Jayasudha is doing female lead in the movie. Manchu Vishnu and Shanvi are doing special guest roles and the movie has completed its shooting and also post production works (almost) and is gearing to release by this month end!

Even a small kid will tell that all is not well between Mohan babu & Chiranjeevi. Ofcourse it is from ages. We all witnessed from Vajrosthavam function. Since then there are many satires in the movies based on these cold war, sorry open wars.

In the recent movie of Manchus ‘Pandavulu Pandavulu thummeda’ also, Mohan babu did not leave the chance of throwing a satire. He said in one scene that ‘few people with out knowing the spelling of MLA, joining politics and changing flags frequently’. It is obvious that it is a direct counter to Chiru.

While this is one side, many from the film fraternity and common audience are sayingoff the record that Mohan babu should use his energies in real politics. He is an excellent orator and his command over Telugu language is undisputed. It would be better if he joins the mainstream politics and let his voice spread in the assembly. What do you say folks?

Yesteryear’s beautiful couple Mohan Babu and Jayasudha are doing in Rowdy movie under Ram Gopal Varma. Although there were rumors that its a remake of Bollywood movie Sarka, Varma quashed them and said Rowdy is a new story and plot. And the first poster might give us an impression that it is going to be a realistic movie with factionism as backdrop RGV clearly said it will be an entertainer with good blend of action as well!

And hearsays that the highlight of the movie will be a dance number between Mohanbabu and Jayasudha. The two are going to jig for Rangeela title song remix, we hear!

The news was confirmed by the senior actress Jayasudha who said, ” The most exciting part of the film is that I have done a song after a very long time. The song came out extraordinary well and I was thrilled and could not believe that I actually did it. I am sure my audience will love it.”

Rowdy also has Manchu Vishnu and Shanvi in the lead roles. The movie has done its shooting in record time of 18 days and we hope that the couple add beauty to the remix.

Satellite rights bails out PPT

Manchu family multi-starrer Pandavulu Pandavulu Thummeda was made at a whopping budget of 30 crores. Although the movie got a good talk it could not make business to that range that it could cover up the costs. And there are three Manchu heroes who did not take the remuneration for the movie as it is their home production

The movie was dubbed into Malyalam too and was released but it did just about okay there. And sadly the makers (24 Frames Factory) did not want to sell the rights for 20 crores. Which resulted in a situation where they could not recover the cost let alone profits.

But thanks to MAA Channel’s generosity, they bought the satellite rights of the movie for 4.25 crores which is superb compared to its box office stamina! Thanks to the MAA, the movie was bailed out.

Rowdy movie has set a unique record of being made in just 18 days, courtesy sensational director RGV who is at the helm of the movie. The first look of the movie is out, and it is making believe why Ram Gopal Varma has titled the movie Rowdy.

Mohan Babu was seen in raw and rustic look sans a wig and the first look of the movie actually is a telltale of what could be expected of the movie. And without doubt one can say why RGV has actually chosen Mohan Babu in the lead role.

Although Ram Gopal Varma’s directorial skills are known with no hit in the recent times (one can hardly remember when was his last hit) and with stereotypical movies he has been written off and the director is working to get back to his lost space in the Tollywood and we believe this could be the comeback vehicle for the maverick man!

Rowdy is being produced by Parthasarthy, Gajendra and AV pictures and is expected to break bo records set by Mohan Babu’s movies.

Padma controversy not to end soon

Mohanbabu’s Padmasri’s controversy seems to be taking different turns. BJP’s Indrasena Reddy alleged that the Dialogue King has been abusing the Padma title he was conferred with in the HC in a petition.

And freshly today, the court gave judgment favoring the petitioner. The court ordered to submit a report on the allegations to the Home Ministry. Court ordered officials to report to Home Ministry that the actor has used the title in his movie title credits and also on his letter heads!

Court said that the ministry will take a decision on the same and also opined that President will decide whether to retain or strip off the title from the actor!

All that being said why is the actor that much obsessed for an award like that? Does he not know that there is no bigger award than people’s everlasting love?
