Baahubali's Mind Blowing Opening in Sandalwood!

It would be an understatement if we say that Baahubali 2 created absolute mayhem at box office on its opening day. The SS Rajamouli directorial has performed beyond expectations in all the territories but the film's performance in Karnataka has evoked ripples in the local Kannada film industry.

With its all four versions, Baahubali 2 has reportedly minted close to Rs 20 crore on its opening day. The figure would look monumental when we tell you that the Prabhas starrer overtook the top Kannada opening film by three times collections. Puneeth Rajkumar's 'Raajakumara' was the earlier biggest opener here with about Rs 7 crore gross. Hence the rousing welcome for Baahubali 2 obviously scared the Kannada industry stars.

Released in around 400 screens in Karnataka, the movie received never-before-seen response from audiences resulting in earth shattering collections. Major revenue reportedly came from the Telugu-dominant regions of the state. Besides releasing the movie in multiple languages, the exorbitant ticket rates also helped the movie inscribe this historical record in the state.

Monstrous Opening for Baahubali-2

As expected, Baahubali 2 has taken earth shattering opening across the world. Irrespective of the region, the SS Rajamouli directorial has generated tremendous revenues. The total net collections from India are expected to be around Rs 125 crore, a historic feat.

Baahubali 2 has reportedly generated a revenue of approx. 38 crore from the Hindi version alone. It is the biggest non-holiday opener which surpassed the films of even Bollywood Khans. Not even Dangal and Sultan could take such historic opening.

Coming to the Telugu version, the collections are unbelievable. As per early estimates, Baahubali 2 raked in 55 crore from the Telugu states, which amounts to a share of Rs 43 crore approx. Overtaking the previous best, around Rs 23 crore of Khaidi No.150 by a phenomenal Rs 20 crore margin is a monstrous feat.

As per trade reports, Baahubali 2 collected 12 crore from Karnataka, 9 from Kerala and 11 crore form Tamil Nadu. With this, the monstrous film has taken a monstrous opening of Rs 125 crore approx. in India.

Coming to the overseas, Baahubali 2 has raked in USD2.5M from premieres and USD2.2M on Friday alone. Collections from several theatres are yet to be compiled. Historic, Phenomenal etc. are very tiny words to describe this opening.

Review : Baahubali 2 -Conclusion : Salute to Rajamouli

Release date : April 28, 2017
Director : S. S. Rajamouli
Producer : Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni
Music Director : M. M. Keeravani

Cast : Prabhas, Anushka Shetty, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah
Off late, where ever you go, there is only topic and that is how Baahubali 2 is going to be. Directed by the genius Rajamouli, the magnum opus has released in over 8000 screens all over today. Let’s see whether the film reaches our expectations or not.

Story:-
As shown in the first part, Baahubali(Prabhas)is declared as the king of Mahishmati. As part of the kingdom’s ancestral ritual, the would-be king needs to visit the countryside to know what problems the people in his kingdom are facing. In this process, Baahubali visits a small kingdom called Kuntala and falls in love with its princess Devasena (Anushka).

He woos Devasena with his charm and brings her to Mahishmati. But to his shock, Baahubali’s mother, Shivagami(Ramya Krishna) changes her decision suddenly and announces Bhallaladeva(Rana) as the king. Why did Shivagami suddenly announce Bhallaladeva as the king? What is the back story behind her decision? and why did Kattappa kill Baahubali? To know answers to these questions, you need to watch the film on the big screen.

Plus Points:-
There are way too many things that impress you in Baahubali 2 but it is practically impossible to pen all of them down in this review. Let me start by talking about the gigantic scale of the film. It is like a never before and never again kind of scenario as Baahubali 2 is huge in every aspect. Every visual of the film is filled with surprises either in terms of graphics or the extravagant sets that have been put up. The costumes, drama showcased and performances are a first of its kind in Telugu films.

Credit should go to Rajamouli for taking Indian films to another level with his mind blowing story telling. The way he has induced a terrific conflict between the two brothers is the major asset of the film. Prabhas unleashes his beastly side in the second part and takes away your senses with his striking performance. From the first scene, his screen presence is top notch and the way he takes Bhallaladeva head on is just terrific.

A lot was said about Anushka’s weight but boy she looks top class in this film. Right from her traditional costumes to her mature look, she has pulled off both the roles with ease. She looks slim and quite beautiful throughout the film. Coming to Rana, it would not be exaggerating to say that Rana will never get such a magnanimous role in the future. What makes the film even more fiery and ghastly is his fabulous villainous avatar. No other actor apart from him could have played this role of a lifetime and Rana has done full justice to it.

Nassar and Satyaraj are excellent in their roles and especially Nasser, is the major highlight among the supporting cast. Ramya Krishna showcases superb emotions and brings a lot of depth to the film. The family emotions are yet another highlight of the film as they elevate the proceedings with a lot of depth. The fist fight between Rana and Prabhas is a feast to the eye.

Minus Points:-
A number of audiences might get disappointed with the way Rajamouli has answered why Katappa killed Baahubali. Even though, the twist gels well with the script, it might not meet the expectations of many. Once the twist is revealed, the film becomes a bit predictable. The climax looks a bit rushed upon as things happen way too quickly.

Tamanna is hardly seen in the film and only appears during the climax. There are certain areas in the film where pace gets slow and some unforced drama overtakes the proceedings. The romance between Prabhas and Anushka could have been edited out a bit to make things better.

Technical Aspects:-
Baahubali 2 is one of the most technically efficient films made in India. If part one surprised you with its scale, then second part will leave you speechless with excellent visual effects and emotions. The kingdoms shown and sets created look top notch on screen. The entire team of Makuta should be appreciated for taking the film to another level with their VFX work.

What takes Baahubali to its peak is the stunning background score of M M Keeravani. Even though his songs are not that effective as the first part, the way he elevates the proceedings with his score is impressive. Dialogues are decent and so were the lyrics. Costumes done for every character looks top class. The weaponry created and props used look quite lethal.
Coming to the director Rajamouli, he has surely done India and the film fraternity proud with Baahubali. He has dreamt of something out of the box and has also succeeded in bringing life to India’s biggest motion picture. The way he has continued the story in the second part and made the drama even more intense is superb. There is more depth in the proceedings and every character has been given complete justification.

Every frame of Baahubali is his creation and you can’t but salute to the genius of this filmmaker who will be the next big thing in Indian cinema. At times, you just wonder how did he perceive all this in his mind and execute it in such a convincing manner. Technicians like him are rare and Telugu folks should be proud that our own director has gone ahead and proved that nothing is impossible.
.
Conclusion:-
On the whole, Baahubali 2 is one film which leaves you speechless. Right from the word go, it has intense drama and action as every frame in the film is a visual wonder. Be it the heroic fights or the lavish war scenes, Rajamouli showcases some never before scenes in Indian film history. This film will be remembered and spoken about for years to come and break every possible record in the country. The performances, drama and the lavish scale look jaw dropping and make this film a never before experience for every movie lover. Finally, just ignore the simple story line and do yourself a favor by taking your entire family to watch this magnum opus called Baahubali as wonders like these only happen very rarely.

Baahubali2 breaks record set by Dangal

SS Rajamouli's just released magnum opus "Baahubali: The Conclusion" has been shattering records.

After overtaking the advance booking record of Hollywood blockbuster Fast & Furious 8 in UAE, Baahubali 2 has now smashed the pre-booking record previously held by Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's Dangal.

In a statement, BookMyShow, one of the prime online ticket booking platforms, said that it has been experiencing an unprecedented advance booking for Baahubali 2 and that over 1 million tickets were sold in just 24 hours, besting the earlier record holder Dangal.

The euphoric response from South Indian audiences was expected but this unprecedented advance booking is majorly because of the crazy Baahubali fans of North India. Even though the ticket prices are alarmingly raised to cash in on the craze, people are not restraining themselves from splurging money to find out 'Why Kattappa Killed Baahubali' as fast as they can.

Baahubali 2 far higher than Fast and Furious 8!

'Baahubali: The Conclusion', which is being seen and called by trade pundits of the country as the game changing Indian film, is breaking records of not just Indian movies but also of Hollywood.

The craze of Baahubali can be understood by learning that even Fast & Furious 8, the latest installment in the action packed series, which recently opened to phenomenal advance bookings and opening collections, couldn't sustain the onslaught of this Indian epic.

The official distributor of Baahubali 2 in UAE has revealed that more than 1,00,000 tickets were sold for the film which was higher than of what Fast And Furious 8 could pull off in that territory. Fast & Furious series has fans all over the world and Baahubali 2 breaking the record of this Hollywood biggie is a testimonial enough for to scale Indian cinema has reached.

Karan Johar: Bahubali's magic beats Mughal-e-Azam's

Hotshot Bollywood filmmaker and Baahubali’s Hindi version’s distributor Karan Johar had some pleasantly surprising words of appreciation for the country’s biggest movie franchise during his participation at the grand pre-release event last night.
“Baahubali’, 67 years later, has beaten the magic created by ‘Mughal-e-Azam’ on screen. Rajamouli’s cinema has soul, his personality has gumption and I don’t think I even have ten percent of it,” an exhilarated Karan said.
The shrewd entertainer further said that Baahubali is a result of immense hard-work and dedication, something which he will go back to Mumbai and teach his Bollywood counterparts about.

Perfect Pre-release business for Baahubali

Ace director SS Rajamouli's Baahubali: The Beginning had smashed all box office records is still the highest south Indian grosser. Tollywood analysts have introduced a new term 'Non-Baahubali records', as it is highly impossible for any film to reach the heights of the Prabhas and Rana starrer film.

Perhaps to take part in the Baahubali series or to take advantage of first part, distributors are spending mammoth prices to obtain distribution rights.

Freshly, Om Manikanta films has acquired Baahubali: The Conclusion East Godavari rights by shelling out ever best price for the area of Rs 9.6 crore as an outright deal, which means the distributor can't claim for reimbursement from producers if he incur losses.

Seems like, Baahubali 2 pre-release business will easily cross the full run shares of the beginning part. So, producers will pocket massive profits prior to the film's release.

Rajamouli never disappointed producers, buyers and audiences hitherto. But, pressure will be high on him as expectations are sky high on Baahubali 2. Hope, he will not disappoint this time too!

Karan Johar Again Acquired Rights Of Rana's Next Movie

After acquiring the Hindi dubbed version of Baahubali for a whopping price, Karan Johar, one of India's most happening filmmakers, gave it a humongous release and publicised it on par with any other Bollywood biggie and the rest as they say was history.

Not many know that it was Rana Daggubati, thanks to his close contacts in Bollywood, who was instrumental in Karan acquiring Baahubali. Karan will also be releasing Baahubali's second part, The Conclusion, next summer.

Now, Rana has once again got Karan onboard for his forthcoming Telugu-Hindi bilingual war drama, Ghazi. According to the latest buzz, Karan has acquired Ghazi's Hindi version and he is planning to give it a huge release across the country.

Ghazi's story is based on the mysterious sinking of the PNS Ghazi submarine in Visakhapatnam during the Indo-Pak war in 1971. The film has been directed by debutant Sankalp Reddy and produced by PVP Cinema.

Taapsee plays a crucial role in the film. After the grand success of Baahubali and the latest Pink, craze for Rana and Taapsee have increased across North and with Karan Johar's entry, Ghazi will surely make a strong impact at the box-office.

Break For Baahubali Shooting, Loss May Be in Crores?

The incessant rains in and around Hyderabad for the past three days have spoiled the plans of SS Rajamouli as the shooting of Baahubali had to be called off. The shoot of Baahubali is being postponed for the last three days incurring huge losses.

As part of a crucial sequence, Rajamouli wants total red soil on ground. Hence, several truckloads of red soil was dumped into the site and was spread all over the place. However, all the plans are spoiled due to rains. And the production team had to get more red soil and even it was failed as rains continued. With this, Rajamouli and his team gave break for the shoot till the climate comes to normal state.

Due to this, the loss is estimated to have incurred in crores including the dates of actors besides other production costs. Presently, the shoot of the particular sequence is set in a quarry in Rajendranagar of Hyderabad.

As the shooting of Baahubali: The Conclusion is being delayed, it needs to be seen whether the film makes it on time (April 28, 2017) or not.

At Least Can He Become Lucky For Puri?

Dashing director Puri Jagannadh is in need of a super hit right now. Out of his 3 films released last year, two films 'Loafer' and 'Jyothi Lakshmi' turned as disasters. He is currently working on Kalyan Ram's 'Ism'. Though there was news that he would work with NTR and Mahesh, reports reveal that he would be working with budding hero Naga Shourya.

From the past few years, young heroes remained unlucky for Puri. Most of his films like 'Nenu Naa Rakshasi' with Rana, 'Loafer' with Varun failed at the box-office. The only exception was 'Heart Attack' starring Nithin. On the other hand, Naga Shourya too tried to get the mass hero image by selecting some action oriented scripts. But, he too failed miserably. Known for giving a complete mass makeover to heroes, Puri is trying to get the script right for Shourya's film.

Hope their film hits the bull's eye and gives the much needed success and mass image for Puri Jagannadh and Naga Shourya respectively.

Rain Vs War: Baahubali Team Playing Cricket

For more than a month now, Team Baahubali has been busy toiling hard in the scorching heat while shooting the most expensive and critical climax war schedule at Ramoji Film City. Today was the last day for this excruciating schedule.

However, just as the team got itself all set to shoot this morning, Rain Gods decided to play spoil sport and it rained cats and dogs on the film's sets which made it impossible for the shooting to progress. With no option left, the team decided to call off today's shoot.

But the team only decided to best utilize the break by rejoicing with a game of cricket. This morning, Rajamouli tweeted, "Last day of war and rain plays spoil sport. Unit decides to utilise it for cricket". Jakkanna also posted a video of the team members playing cricket near the waterlogged sets.

It may be recalled that even during the filming of Baahubali The Beginning, heavy rain destroyed the huge corn field which the film's production designer Sabu Cyril erected exclusively for the film. Baahubali 2's shooting will be wrapped up by December and the film will release on 28th April, 2017.

4 Versions of Climax For Baahubali-2

Everyone wants to know 'why Kattappa killed Baahubali? Apparently, Rajamouli didn't know reason behind it, when he was making the Beginning part. Rajamouli's dad and film's writer Vijayendra Prasad in an interview long ago said, 'Why do you think Kattappa killed Bahubali? He had just stabbed him. For all you know, he might still be alive.'

As per latest reports, Rajamouli shot four versions to give answer for 'why Kattappa killed Baahubali?' at climax in Baahubali: The Conclusion. Rajamouli will decide on which is to be included, before production works come to an end.

Rajamouli indeed is an expert in dealing tough tasks, so he would definitely choose best out of the four. It sounds as if Rajamouli would release four versions in few days gap between each version. Thus, it will be helpful in bringing audience to theaters 4 times.

Meanwhile, Baahubali 2 is slated for release on April 14, 2017.

Rudhramadevi for the Oscar Awards!

Telugu film industry has always received cold treatment when it comes to National Film Awards. The number of Telugu films that were recognized at the National Awards is so small that Telugu movie lovers have lost all hopes to see our films emerge victorious at National level.

However, here comes an exception. Film Federation of India has now recommended historical Telugu film "Rudhramadevi" for the Oscar Awards in the 'Best Foreign Language Film' category. The news has been confirmed by the film's director Gunasekhar himself. This really is a proud moment for the Telugu film industry.

Released in 2015, 'Rudhramadevi' is the India's first historical 3D film. It depicted the story of queen Rudramadevi, who ruled the Kakatiya kingdom. The film has already won several state level awards. Starring Anushka Shetty in the titular role, the film had hefty support from Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati.

Gunasekhar is currently planning to make the biopic of 'Prathapa Rudrudu', the grandson of 'Rudhramadevi'.

They realized their common love(Food)?

Looks like linkup rumours and Rana Daggubati always go hand in hand. After being linked to hotties like Bipasha Basu, Ileana, Trisha and recently Sriya, the macho hunk of Tollywood is back in news with alleged rumours of "something brewing between him and his Ghazi co-star Taapsee Pannu.

Buzz is that both Rana and Taapsee have found comfort in each other's company during the shooting of Ghazi. Also, the fact that both these young stars are great foodies acted as a link for bonding and they both spent a lot of time having endless luncheons on the sets of Ghazi.

And what Taapsee had to say about this whole item surely raises several eyebrows. Speaking to a national media house, Taapsee said, "Yes, we both love each other's company but we bond over food and realised our common love (food)."

Baahubali toys may hit market very soon, No remuneration for Jakkanna?

Finally the craze of "Baahubali" is about to finish as Mahesh Babu's "Srimanthudu" is replacing every inch of it with its sheer craze. What's SS Rajamouli doing more to promote Baahubali? He shifted focus on the story and screenplay of second part of the film that is due for release in 2016 and will not promote the film more it looks. There is some buzz anyway about him in this way.

Apparently Rajamouli is pushing producer Shobu Yarlagadda to speak with some toys and dolls manufacturers to get the toys of Sivudu, Bhallaladeva, Baahubali and Avantika to be made and sold. That brings not just money but also the craze for second part of the film, Baahubali: The Conclusion. Though Baahubali makers sold T-shirts and Caps, those merchandise haven't brought the much needed attention. For that reason if these toys are into place now, they may create publicity like how Hollywood films get their promotions through selling their central characters as toys.

Coming to this 5 lakhs buzz, it is heard that Rajamouli is collecting every month 5 lakhs salary from producer Shobhu but haven't took the remuneration for the film. That means in the last 3 years he has collected around 1.8 crore only. It's heard that he has share in the profits of the film, but didn't took single rupee as remuneration other than this maintenance fee.

Review: Baahubali

Release date : July 10, 2015
Director : S.S.Rajamouli
Producer : Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Devineni
Music Director : M. M. Keeravani
Starring : Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Tamannaah, Anushka

Baahubali is undoubtedly the most prestigious project that has come out of Tollywood in the recent times. Directed by the genius Rajamouli, this film has Prabhas, Tamannah, Rana and Anushka in lead roles. Touted as the biggest motion picture in India, Baahubali has hit thescreens today. Let’s see whether it lives up to its hype or not.

Story:-
Shivudu(Prabhas) is brought up by some native villagers. He grows up with special skills which turn out to be a mystery for every one. One fine day, he spots Avantika(Tamanna) and falls in love with her.
As time passes by, he comes to know that she and her group are trying hard to rescue the royal princes Devasena(Anushka) from the evil clutches of Bhalaladeva(Rana). Shivudu decides to help Avanitka and enters the Mahishmati Kingdom.

As soon as he lands there, he comes to know that he has a past associated with both Mahishmati and Bhalaladeva. What is that past ? What does Shivudu have to do with Mahishmati ? Who is Shivudu in real life. To know answers to these questions, you need to watch the film on the big screen.

Plus Points:-
As you start watching Baahubali, one thing that hits you instantly is the scale of this magnum opus. The extravagant sets, spectacular visuals and the sheer magnitude has not been showcased in any Indian film before. One cannot shy away to laud Rajamouli for thinking something this huge and also executing it on such a mammoth scale. The war sequences and the way they have been executed are in true Hollywood style.

Prabhas is terrific in a dual role and is the apt choice as Baahubali. No one except him could have done justice to the role which is larger than life and has many heroic moments. His sheer screen presence and emotional performance will be immensely loved by his fans. As expected, Rana is menacing as the baddie Bhalaladeva. This is a dream role for him and he gives a top notch performance as the bad guy.

It is quite surprising to see the amount of detailing that has gone into every aspect of this film. What catches your attention right away are the terrific visual effects. There are certain scenes in the film which will just leave you spell bound. Tamanna is gorgeous as Avantika and plays her part well.

Ramya Krishna is elegant as Shivagami and brings a lot of depth to the film. Nasser and Satyaraj play their roles perfectly. Second half of the film has a lot of emotions which elevate the film to another level.

Minus Points:-
The story line of Baahubali is quite routine and predictable. The actual film kick starts only during the second half and ends abruptly which might leave you a bit unhappy. Anushka has nothing much to do in the film as her character will be revealed only during the second part.

Certain war sequences have been dragged out and could have been trimmed to decrease the run time. There is so much hype surrounding the film that certain unwanted songs side tracks the film. The romance between Prabhas and Tamanna also looks exaggerated at times.

Technical Aspects:-
Where do I start from in this section. Baahubali is by far the most technically brilliant film that has come out from Indian cinema. Each and every frame in the film is sheer magic. The sets, VFX work and graphics are just out of this world. One should be really proud to see such grand visuals especially in a Telugu film. Music is decent but the background score could have been better.

Next in line is the art direction. Sabu Cyril has done a marvelous job with the sets. Be it the palace sets, the kingdom surroundings or the warfare equipment, everything looks impressive. Senthil Kumar’s camera work is mind blowing. His awesome visuals are nicely complimented by the stunning VFX. The water fall scenes and some shots during the fight sequence with Kaalakeya have been executed brilliantly.

The way Rajamouli has conceptualized the visuals will be a learning lesson for a generation of aspiring film makers. Even though Rajamouli’s screenplay dips a bit here and there, his larger than life approach is what makes this film such a visual treat.

Verdict:-
On the whole, Baahubali is one film which every Indian movie lover can be extremely proud off. Right from the word go, this visual extravaganza treats you to some never before seen elements in Indian films. Prabhas’s stunning avatar as Baahubali, brilliant art work to some eye topping visuals effects, this film has it all. Genius director Rajamouli, should be lauded and supported for his dedication in taking Telugu cinema to the next level. Finally, if you ignore the predictable story line and keep your expectations in check, Baahubali is bound to entertain you big time.

Noted critics Taran Adarsh comments on Baahubali: M-A-S-T-E-R-P-I-E-C-E

Finally the Press Show in Mumbai just got over. So, how is 'Baahubali' according to them?

Almost all the critics, RJs and review writers who watched the show are searching for words to describe the brilliancy of Baahubali, ability and vision of Rajamouli and above all the way visual effects and water-tight screenplay have taken the movie to next level.

Noted critics Taran Adarsh has showered a heap of praises on the film. 'No storyteller comes close to what SS Rajamouli envisions and executes on screen. #Baahubali is truly a M-A-S-T-E-R-P-I-E-C-E. Every frame, every sequence of #Baahubali is a marvel', said Taran, giving the first ever opinion on this movie.

He adds, 'Can easily be compared to the best of Hollywood. Has the stamp of a genius. The grandiose sets, VFX, sound, edit, cinematography... most importantly, the watertight screenplay of #Baahubali is beyond fantastic'. Talking about the casting and others, he said, 'Baahubali casting is just perfect. Every actor shines in their respective parts. Prabhas and Rana, special mention for you both. Outstanding! A film like #Baahubali makes you proud. An Indian filmmaker dared to dream and the results are for all to see'.

Final words: We take a giant leap. #Baahubali is NOT TO BE MISSED. Today, you may call it a BOX-OFFICE BLOCKBUSTER. Tomorrow, it will be remembered as a CLASSIC.
