Young hero Nara Rohit has been experimenting with different genres and subjects from his very first film Banam. Solo provided first commercial break for the young hero who then won critics appreciations for thought provoking film Prathinidhi and an action drama film Asura. Rohit's last movie Raja Cheyyi Veste was a flop. The actor keeps high hopes on his upcoming venture Jyo Achyutananda coming from the same production house of Vaarahi Chalana Chitram and is directed by Srinivas Avasarala whose maiden directorial Oohalu Gusagusa Lade was a big hit. Here's what Rohit says about the film:
When did actually Jyo Achyutananda start?
Avasarala narrated me the film's story almost a year ago. But, we started Raja Cheyyi Veste first. Then, we began Jyo Achyutananda shooting from March.
Was Naga Shourya The Original Choice For the Other Lead?
Story was narrated to me when basic structure was formed and I was confirmed for Achyut character. We were thinking over who can rightly pull off the role of Anand. Avasarala finalized Shourya, after completing the script work.
How Was It Working With Naga Shourya?
I didn't work with him earlier. I was worried, whether we will be comfortable with each other or not. But, we had a good bonding when we had script reading session together. We thoroughly enjoyed those days. Then, test shooting started. You will know how much we enjoyed, if you watch any of working videos. We had good bonding and we still maintain the same.
Was Regina Yours Or Director's Choice?
We had lots of options. Avasarala was thinking whether to rope in a new girl. But the thing is the role of Jyo is dominant enough. So, he thought an actress who previously worked for few films and had already played such dominant role earlier would apt for the role. Then, we thought of Regina and she came on board.
What attracted you to sign the film?
The line itself. We have very few films in this generation, two brothers flirt same girl. The script itself has the brotherly bond. That's what excited me to do the film.
Rajamouli at audio launch said the film has thriller flavor, is that anything like that?
It is not a thriller. But, screenplay is bit thrilling. I don't say it's a triangular love story, but it's a love story. The film is more of relationship between two brothers.
How this film is different from your previous films?
I strongly proclaim that, I don't think this kind of story hasn't come at all in Telugu cinema. Many have asked me like whether this film has Dostana shades, are you invincible in the film etc. There were no references for the film, even for a single scene. In fact, they were giving us new ideas to pen new stories based on these questions.
What's your character in the film?
It has two phases. One is five years back in college days and the other is present. I work as a HR in a software firm.
When do you meet Regina, in past or present life?
(smiles) I don't want to reveal much. But, what I can only say is in both.
Do you have plans of sporting six packs?
I started reducing for Raja Cheyyiveste. It started reflecting in the film. I have already lost around 11 kgs and my target is to reduce 8 more kgs in a couple of months. Don't know, but try to work out for six packs for future ventures.
You and Shourya have similarities look wise, what's the reason?
It was Shourya's call. During look test, I had moustache and Shourya had beard. Usually, brothers try to be similar, as per Shourya. He then convinced Avasarala gaaru.
Who is villain in the film?
Everyone in the film has villain shades, including me, Shourya and Regina.
Usually climax is crucial for films of these kind, how Avasarala handled it in JA?
In fact, climax is best part of the film. You will definitely love it and come out of theaters with smile on your faces.
Do you involve in your scripts?
I don't actually involve, but I through my ideas whether they are right or wrong. I tell my directors to pick, if they feel any my idea is useful.
Right now, Nara Rohit is in USA to attend an event and also to spend time with his friends over there. He said to watch the film's premiere in the US.
