HC Verdict, Made Film Makers to worry?

Piracy is the biggest problem entire film industry worrying about. Although cyber crime is making efforts to block as many as pirated sites, they couldn't fully stop films being leaked online. Interestingly, the Bombay high court has said that watching pirated films online is not a crime.

The HC has asked Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to drop the line "viewing, downloading, exhibiting or duplicating' a particular film is a penal offence" from the 'error message' and directed them to display a more generic message on URLS to be blocked for violation of copyright.

The High Court had recently directed ISPs to block several URLs on an appeal by producers of the film Dishoom against piracy. The court also asked ISPs to place an 'error message' on the blocked sites as a measure to guarantee authentic e-commerce sites are not affected.

Earlier, netizens shocked when ISPs announced that those who watch an illicit copy of a film are punishable. Now, the court offered them much relief. But, this verdict would worry filmmakers, since netizens would happily watch pirated versions.
