During the golden era, legendary Tollywood stars like NTR, ANR, Krishna and Sobhan Babu etc used to act with each other and fans of all these stars used to make their films super hits. The next generation stars like Chiranjeevi, Balakrishna, Nagarjuna and Venkatesh discontinued this tradition.
And the present day stars are hardly seen hanging out together and exchanging pleasantries on social media leave alone acting in each other's film's as they think that they're brand value may reduce or their fans will not appreciate it.
This only shows the deeply rooted insecurity levels among our stars. However, the situation is quite different in Bollywood where top stars like Salman, Shah Rukh and Aamir and several others openly promote and appreciate each other's films.
Whenever a Khan film releases, the two other leading Khans would tweet nonstop about the film and even their fans watch the other Khan's film. This not only helps the film garner more revenues but it also creates a sense of harmony and friendship among the stars and their fans.
Recently, Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh tweeted about Akshay Kumar's Rustom and asked their fans to watch the film and this cross promotion has done the trick for Rustom, which is releasing amidst an extra hype. The big question now is, Will our Tollywood stars dare to do what their Bollywood counterparts are doing and save the Telugu film industry?
