The first part of SS Rajamouli's two-part epic fantasy, Baahubali : The Beginning, might be a money spinner in several countries and might have set several world records, yet it failed to repeat the feat in China. The high-budget extravaganza that released in China on July 22 in highest number of theatres for an Indian film saw a medium response in the first week and that was beaten by local Chinese films.
With the massive releases of Jackie Chan's Skiptrace and Jet Li's League of Gods, Baahubali couldn't sustain at the ticket windows. Considering that Chinese have witnessed several such fantasy films and Jet Li's latest League of Gods being fantasy flick, Baahubali couldn't make it in China.
Apparently, Aamir Khan's PK has done better than Baahubali in China as the former got better openings than the latter. The science-fiction comedy has grossed a record 100 million yuan in China. Let's wait and see how much Baahubali: The Beginning would rake in from China in its total run. Meanwhile, the result of the first part has poured cold water on the business of the film's second part in China.
