Yevadu vs One

Which one of these two movies is your favorite? ‘Yamuduki Mogudu’ or ‘Rudraveena’ ??? Both these films of Chiranjeevi were released in 1988 and Yamudiki Mogudu was commercially huge success. Rudra veena was critically acclaimed but financially Naga babu suffered huge losses. This was admitted by Naga babu himself in RK’s open heart.

But if we ask 20 Telugu movie lovers, min 15 will say ‘Rudra veena’ is a good film. But there is a clause. Only if you ask 20 class people, their answer will be Rudraveena. But if same question is asked to ‘C’ class audience all 20 will answer ‘Yamudiki Mogudu’. There is nothing wrong in those answers.  It only depends upon majority of the audience who watch a movie.

If the movie ‘Gravity’ was released in Telugu, it would have gone to shed in 2 days.. So while making a commercial film, director has to think twice the level of audience he is depending upon. If a director makes an art movie, he should not expect mass people to come and watch his film..

Same fate happened to the recent films ‘Yevadu’ and ‘One’. There is nothing new that Yevadu offered to audience. One can simply leave the brains and watch the screen.. Fe songs, comedy scenes and actions episodes. But where as ‘One’ director put his heart to give something new. Which is why it appealed to most of the youth and US audience.
