In a major heartbreaking news for all the torrent freaks, the world's largest online piracy portal KickassTorrents and all of its domains has been seized and its owner Artem Vaulin was arrested in Poland on behalf of the US Justice Department.
Artem Vaulin, a 30-year-old Ukraine national, is said to have distributed nearly $1 billion copyrighted material on his most popular file-sharing website. The US has requested his extradition for crimes related copyright infringement and money laundering.
Vaulin allegedly relied on servers located in several countries around the world and constantly moved his domains due to repeated seizures and civil lawsuits.
KickassTorrents on several occasions rejected takedown notices issued by Hollywood studios and other intellectual property holders. According to the US Federal Department, KickassTorrents has been making more than $16 million per year through advertising revenue.
