Huge investment on Karthi?

Top producer PVP is known for making high budget films. The passion for cinema seem to be not letting PVP shy from spending lavishly on new films even though he had faced harsh results in the past.

The first look of Karthi's 'Kashmora' has been unveiled and no doubt it was attention seeking. It is heard that 'Kashmora' is being made on a mammoth budget of Rs 60 Cr in Telugu and Tamil, needless to say that the high budget film is being produced by PVP Cinema. Isn't PVP cinema taking a big risk by investing 60 Cr on an experimental supernatural thriller?

Here is brief history of PVP's ventures: High budget ventures like Rajpattai, Varna, Size Zero and Brahmotsavam were outright disasters. Balupu and Oopiri were successful but remained cost failures owing to the high budget involved.

Trade analysts opine that even if 'Kashmora' gets positive talk, Karthi can't command Rs 60 Cr business. So, if PVP gets lucky, it will bag yet another cost failure film or Kashmora will be another Brahmotsavan for the top production house.

Luckiest Directors?

Pawan and Mahesh delivered biggest disasters of their careers respectively with Sardaar Gabbar Singh and Brahmotsavam. The actors and producers of these films had committed to work together for one more film to pay losses for distributors.

Producer Prasad Vara Potluri signed two films deal with Vamsi Paidipally. Their first film Oopiri was an above average grosser. The director was supposed to make a film with Akkineni Akhil which was shelved owing to reasons best known to them.

The producer has announced his second film as part of their two film deal with Mahesh on the special eve of the actor's birthday. This movie to be directed by Vamsi Paidipally will go on floors after Mahesh Babu wrapping up films with AR Murugadoss and Koratala Siva.

On the flip side, Pawan Kalyan promised Dolly to give him another chance after he was convinced with outcome of Gopala Gopala then. When director SJ Suriyah was unavailable to direct his new film, Pawan brought in Dolly to handle the project.

Although last films of both the directors- Gopala Gopala and Oopiri won critical applause, they weren't huge profit makers for the producers. Still, these directors got to work with top stars of Tollywood. In this way, both Dolly and Vamsi are the luckiest directors.

Surprise: Anushka In Oopiri!

Nagarjuna's forthcoming film Oopiri has a surprise element. Well, it's nothing but Anushka Shetty's cameo presence. Anushka will be seen in a guest role in the film. When asked about it, Nagarjuna corroborated, "Yes, Anushka is there in the film. It's a small appearance."

However, this is not first-time Anushka is doing cameo in Nag's film. She's recently seen in Soggade Chinni Nayana. She also did in the past in films like King. Compensating it, Nagarjuna too turned up in Anushka's Size Zero. The duo acted in films like Damarukam, Don, Super and share good bond.

As Soggade is biggest hit ever in Nag's career, makers of Oopiri are hoping that the duo would recreate similar magic this time around. Directed by Vamshi Paidipally, Nagarjuna is seen in an experimental role of quadriplegic. Touted to be remake of French film The Intouchables, the film stars Karthi and Tamannah. The Telugu-Tamil bilingual is all set for release on March 25 in both Telugu and Tamil simultaneously. Let's wait and see.
