Tollywood heroines future

Tollywood heroines future

Move over Anushkas, Nayantaras and Charmee, it's the season of new-age actresses like Samanta, Shruti and Tammanah, who are most sought-after actresses in T-town since they are ideal age to be cast opposite Gen x male stars and also have established a following of their own. Even Ileana, would have been one of the top contenders, but her leanings towards B-town and reportedly couldn't do Akkineni's 'Manam' since the Nag declined to pay whopping Rs. 2 crores pay cheque, so it will take time for her return to T-town. Whereas, Shruti wants to strike a balance between B-town and T-town and after hits 'Gabbar', 'Balupu', is looking forward to 'Yevadu' to consolidate her position (the same actress was once branded 'jinxed, strange right').

Although, Samanta has an edge over Tammnah with more hits like 'Seethamma...', 'Atharinikiti', since Tammanah had to contend with average grosser 'Tadaka', but she hasn't lost her charm and saleability. Another advantage Samanta, has that top stars like Mahesh, NTR doesn't mind working with her again and again like 'Ramayya..' and 'Joru', so Tammanah is also following suit and would team up with Ram Charan again and Tamanah's chances would be brighter next year, since she would romancing Mahesh babu for the first time in Agadu after working with bigwigs like Pawan, NTR and Prabhas, but all those films flopped and hampered her progress to the top. Whereas, Samanta could pull of a blockbuster 'Eega' with support of a housefly and showed more variety, whereas Tammanah has been confined to overdose of glamour and skin show (Rebel).

So Samanta just needs few more hits, to be crowned as T-town numero uno. Since another popular actress Kaajal has moved to K-town and the made the job of 'Eega star' much easier, but Kaajal could return and could give a tough fight.

Giving due credit to ex-T-town queen, Anushka, who scored a massive hit 'Mirchi' but the disaster like 'Varna', questioned her position but she would be hoping to regain top slot with 'Rudramma Devi' next year and would prove that she is a to name to reckon with. Even the return of dusky actress Nayanatara, hasn't been exciting enough, after scoring acting hounours for 'Sri Ramarajyam', the actress has to contend with duds like 'Krishnam Vande..' and 'Greekuveerudu' and she would be banking on 'Anamika' (remake of Kaahani) to prove that she is still a big crowd puller, provided, the off-beat film, strikes a chord with Telugu viewers.

Unfortunatly, Priyamani has almost given up on her T-town innings with duds like 'Chandi' and has no big offers in her kitty, but Charmme who is trying to balance between 'item numbers' in commercial films like 'Damarukam' and 'Nayak', should be pinning hopes on 'Pratighatana', a topical film, to give her the much hit and arrest her sliding career. Among up and coming actresses, Amala Paul, Catherine and Regina, Rakul Preet Singh, have showed some promise, but long way to go in, to cement their position in T-town.
